Traditional surgical skills training generally involves co-ordinating a lot of equipment and people into one place for a class room style activity. In recent years haptic trainers and simulation models have become more common place in order to provide an alternative to animal tissue, but still don’t provide the complete solution. The key challenges for this type of training are the logistics of setting up an event, restraints on peoples time, and access to courses further a field.
By including 3D imaging technology as part of the educational training solution, these challenges can be greatly reduced. The surgical training can be run as group sessions in one room, or live linked through internet to each individuals workplace.
